They call it “the art of combining things that are not related”, to make it easy “Mix & Match”.
It’s actually a trend born in the street and what is mixed are clothes: floral prints and check prints, fabrics, colors and even clothes of low-cost chains with expensive clothes of famous fashion houses.
All of us once in a lifetime we have done it, we allowed ourselves the luxury of buying an item at a great atelier, our mothers were saying that it was an investment. A pair of shoes, boots, an expensive purse and then we combined with normal article of clothing, perhaps without visible brand, but that we actually bought from Zara or H&M.

Nothing new would appear, were it not that this trend now affects everyone, absolutely everyone, celebrities, royalty, aristocrats and notables who boast of this style from the street.
The first in history to combine designer clothes with jewels found in flea markets of Indian reserves was the divine Iris Apfel. The woman who taught us that even a plastic necklace has its own because.
Today this trend seems to have leveled the economic classes, sacrificing the expensive on the altar of “if t is nice why not!”.
And if on the one hand were the celebrities to enter to shopping at Zara, on the other hand also the poor mortals are now able to afford a luxury aided by e-commerce as Yoox or Ebay which have realized many dreams.

Besides, many designers have come down from the pedestal and have created limited collections for chains like H&M, so many did it, first of all Karl Lagerfeld, but also Isabel Marant, Stella McCarteney. Then Roland Mouret has created a line for Gap, Giles Deacon for New Look and Proenza Schouler for Target. Collections that have created long queues waiting for the opening of stores all over the world just to have an original Lagerfeld, certainly more expensive than a usual H&M dress, but certainly more affordable to everyone than one Chanel.
Moreover it seems that Lagerfeld has taken a liking to create for mere mortals, creating a fun collection of shoes for Melissa.

Valentino obviously stood out and, instead of creating limited collections for street people, he did enter his atelier a street artist of the caliber Solo.
Solo created a collection for the street, fabrics, T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, from street style that everyone can wear, both the boyfriend as the girlfriend.
Not impress you sure these trends, for years we are used to the Mix & Match by fashion bloggers, is they who have it cleared through customs, on the blogs and sat around the catwalks, cheeky and arrogant compared to the designer who they went to gratify.
But how do you show off a perfect Mix & Match?

We start from one end to the base, neutral, you do not need it is new, it’s expensive, a little black dress mat doesn’t need to be expensive. Then we match the most original and particular leaders, most eccentric, able to give an original touch to the look, could be a t-shirt, a pair of shoes or a pair of trousers, is not important. The important thing is to stand out, be creative, daring on colors and combinations.
Very important phase are the accessories, because they are the details that make the difference.
