Automobile… finally. Why finally?
On Mattlumine we have already tackled this issue, referring in particular to the Tesla, when, now already some years ago, Elon Musk anticipated that he wanted to bring in his cars the Autonomous Driving.
It is clear that the issues on Transport are central in this historical moment, because the traffic in the cities has become unbearable, both for those who stay in the middle of city traffic every day, both for those who must suffer the noise pollution and respiratory, and then clearly there is the problem of global warming whose cars are a major player in the negative.
That said, some steps are being taken and most likely those who move now, creating maybe even join ventures and partnerships between automakers and high-tech companies, will be considered a top brand in the future of the car market. The two main themes thus concern the sustainability for the climate and sustainability stress caused by traffic, so you bet on electric cars and autonomous driving.
Already many automakers are doing something, things like: displacements smaller, more efficient engines, start-and-stop systems and warning systems for sleep and a safe distance from the vehicle in front. Well these are already on many cars, but some manufacturers are going a little ‘further and they’re doing it for some time.
Toyota and its brand upper-level Lexus have for years been in the forefront with hybrid cars, both middle-range and high-end.
The hybrid has also pushed the creativity of some automakers of supercar, who decided to use the mix of electric and combustion energy to do something that would leave an indelible mark in the history of the car, in fact, McLaren, Porsche and Ferrari have focused to create on the hybrid cars with the best performance in their history, giving life to the McLaren P1, the Porsche 918 and Ferrari LaFerrari.
There are those who have never done the “sin” toward the combustion engine and has always maintained a straight line on electric motors, which is Tesla, which went even further, trying to create not only the cars, but also a system around the car, which allows a new way of life. Indeed Tesla also produces the super batteries for the house, I must also admit with a design for anything to be underestimated, that keep the energy that can produce a house with solar panels and use it for both the car and in case of necessity for the electric sustenance of the house itself, so you have a home-drive system self-sufficient in most cases. Beyond that Tesla has also begun construction of stations under its own brand to recharge the cars when a person is away from home or does not have the charging system.
Tesla has also recently launched, after the now famous Model S, two more affordable models to ente the mid and mid-high level, that are the Model X and Model 3.
In the medium-high level they are doing very well even Mercedes and BMW. Mercedes has brought the battery technology on a car that already produced, we speak of the Class B Electric Drive, while BMW has created two completely new models, a mid-level, the i3, and a high-level, the i8. Speaking of high-level Mercedes presented these days during the important automotive event in Pebble Beach, California, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, a prototype, a real fireball futuristic, with strictly electric propulsion, capable of developing 738 horsepower, it is the Maybach 6. A design worthy of Mr. Wayne, but unfortunately, as is the case for all electric cars, still has some problem of scarcity of kilometers possible with a full, they are in fact 320, which in any case, given the car category and the power delivery, is respectable anyway.
After this series it’s time to return to the discourse on autonomous driving, that after Tesla, saw another important actor groped success with this new technology, or rather we should say the actors, who are Chrysler and Google with a partnership for the launch of Pacifica (find the article about it here), but it is of these days another important partnership, that between the Volvo and Uber.
In fact it was announced a partnership worth 300 million between Uber and Volvo to make autonomous the Taxis (or whatever you want to call them) of the most popular app of the sector of mobility.
The testing will start from Pittsburgh and it is possible that since the end of September the Uber users of this Pennsylvania town will can see one of the XC90 SUV of the Swedish Automaker that tests the autonomous driving. The service will be tested at random, it is presumed will be free for the “user test” chosen at random. Inside the car will still be present even one person to oversee it all.
We therefore among the brands that are showing more attention to the future of the cars, the two German Mercedes and BMW, the Japanese Toyota and Lexus, the American and progenitor of the movement of the new car Tesla, the other American Chysler and now the Swedish Volvo .
We await the Italians!!!
We must report about the new trends for the cars of the future that the Netherlands will consider the next October 13 an amendment that includes a series of taxes and restrictions on the movement of car gasoline and diesel fuel that would make it illegal to sell in 2025 and that will lead to their demise by around 2035.
If in the autumn the Dutch Senate will approve the law, it will become enforceable.
